Weekend Inspiration: Handmade Knickers

Anthea's knickers made using a kit from The Makery

A few years ago I would have wet my Primark pants laughing at the idea of making my own underwear. Since developing a love for all-things-handmade, I've found myself falling for more and more images like the ones above of cute, frilly knickers made from quirky fabrics.

When I read Anthea's post about her knicker-making session I was finally completely sold. Both her and Tilly talk about how it's pretty easy and addictive. I have some leftover vintage dress fabric, Eithne Farry's pattern and as of today I'm the proud owner of 5m of black knicker elastic.

This is the beginning of a new adventure.

What direction are your creative thoughts whizzing about in this weekend?

  1. Me and u appear to be on the same wavelength. I tried my hand at some plain Jane t shirt fabric knickers the other week but plan to expand my testers. These are so gorgeous! Must get stitching - need to invest in knicker elastic!
