Handmade Wedding: Thank You Bunting

It all seems a long time ago but it's only been two months since Steve and I became husband and wife, I'm gradually sharing some of the little homemade touches from our day and you can find plenty more wedding craft posts here.

One lovely idea which my mum had been shown by a neighbour was to take a photograph of the bride and groom holding "thank you bunting" that could be used on the front cover of the thank you cards.  I just thought this was such a genius idea and once I started searching around I found more and more lovely designs on Etsy.

I have to be honest. I wasn't convinced that Steve would completely take to the idea - I don't think he really gets bunting.  (As an aside: if anyone else's man doesn't get bunting, do get in touch. I'm still trying to work out what's not to like!)  But on the day when I produced this beautiful handmade decoration,Steve couldn't refuse to hold onto one end and smile!

My mum used beautiful blue and white fabric for the bunting.  She then hand-stitched coloured felt onto the bunting to make the letters.  I couldn't believe how professional the finish was, even Steve commented on how well-made it was. I cannot thank her enough for the exquisite job that she did.

What lovely ideas have you seen on wedding stationery?
