Handmade Monday: Easy Dress

This week for Handmade Monday, I'm showing you my "Easy Dress".  It's the first dress that I've made from scratch and it has received lots of compliments, to which I am smugly able to reply, "Ooh, thank you, I made it!".

I even got wolf-whistled wearing it...it's official...lorry drivers love handmade clothes!

It's made of stretch jersey fabric, so really comfy and easy to wear and it was incredibly easy to make.  I used rectangle of fabric and just a wee bit of zig zag machine sewing.  I adapted the idea from this tutorial for a maxi dress.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  It's lovely to be able to share my craft projects and Handmade Monday is just perfect for this.  I'm now popping across to Handmade Harbour to see what everyone else has been crafting.

  1. It looks fab - and the looseness of it looks like it might be cool to wear in this heat.

  2. What a super dress and so easy to make especially since it's jersey.

The shape of the top reminds me of the batwing sleeve which was very big in the 80's. It's making a big come back I believe.

  3. I obviously have no idea as I would have thought that jersey would be tricky to sew as it stretches. I think you look really fab in it. Well done.

  4. I love this dress and have just had a look at the tutorial. I tried to make a dress a short while ago and it was a disaster but this looks a bit simpler so I might have a go. You deserved the wolf whistle!

  6. I'm one of those people who thrive on a wolf whistle! Well done you! How good did that make you feel and the sense of achievement having made it yourself :) (From a 50 year old who still has the mind of someone who is 21!!!) Go girl!!!
I made a shift dress recently, first time I've made fabric/stitched clothes for a long time!! Sense of achievement was awesome, although I know where all the mistakes are!!

  7. Wow I can't believe this is the first dress you've made, it looks wonderful. And obviously the lorry drivers think so too. I love the loose fit and the v in the back. Have a lovely week.
