Crochet Pattern: Ballet Slippers

After finding inspiration here, I created this pattern...



Shoe size UK sizes 4-6
Wool: DK  Ribbon: Approximately 2 x 1metre lengths
Hook Size: 4mm
*Please note this pattern uses UK crochet terms*

Toe
Ch8
Rnd 1: 2tr in third ch from hook (counts as 3sts), 1tr in each of next 4ch, 3tr in last ch.  Working into other side of ch: 1tr in each of next 4ch. Join with sl st into top of first st.  (14sts).
Rnd 2: Ch3, 3tr in next st, 1tr in each of next 6sts, 3tr in next st, 1tr in each of next 5sts.  Join with sl st into top of first st. (18sts).
Rnd 3: Ch3, tr in first st, 3tr in second st, 1tr in each of next 8sts, 3tr in next st, 1tr in each of next 6sts.  Join with sl st into top of first st. (22sts).
Rnd 4: Ch 3, 1tr each of next 2sts, 3tr in next st, 1tr in each of next 10sts, 3tr in next st, 1tr in each of next 7sts.  Join with sl st into top of first st. (26sts).
Rnd 5: Ch 3, 1tr in each of next 3sts, 3tr in next st, 1tr in each of next 12sts, 3tr in next st, 1tr in each of next 8sts.  Join with sl st into top of first st. (30sts).
Rnd 6: Ch1, 1dc in next st, 1htr in next st, 1tr in each of next 20sts, 1htr in next st, 1dc in next st, 1sc in each of next 5sts. Join with sl st. Do not fasten off.

Foot and heel
Turn. Row 1: 1dc in next 4sts, 1htr in next st, 1tr in next 18sts, 1htr in next st, 1dc in next st, sl st in next st. Turn.
Row 2: Sl st in next 2sts, ch3, 1tr in next 17sts.  Turn.
Rows 3-8: Ch 3, 1tr in each of next 17 sts. Turn.
Row 9: Ch3, 1tr in each of next 7sts, tr2tog, 1tr in each of next 8sts. Turn.
Row 10-13: Ch 3, 1tr in each of next 16sts.
Row 14: Ch 3, 1tr in each of the next 5sts, tr2tog, 1tr in next st, tr2tog, 1tr in each of next 6sts. Turn.
Row 15: Ch3, 1tr in same st (1inc), 1tr in each of next 13sts, 2tr in last st.
Row 16: Ch3, 1tr in same st (1inc), 1tr in each of next 15sts, 2tr in last st. Do not fasten off.

Finishing off

Fold last row in half and dc 2 layers together.  Fasten off.  Weave in ends.  
Use contrasting colour to dc round opening as shown below.  Sew on 50cm of ribbon to inside of each side of foot.  This video is useful to find out where exactly.

  2. Very handy thing to make - slippers - even if not for ballet! Would be a good holiday project as you could wear them when finished!
